Services Bureau

Overview

The Services Bureau is comprised of the Communications Section (Dispatch), Records Section, Computer Systems Section, and Property Control and D.A.R.E. The Service Bureau Lieutenant supervises 11 Dispatchers/Records personnel, 1 DARE, 1 Property Control Officer, and 1 Assistant Systems Administrator.

Communications Section

The Communications Section will handle over 23,000 police related incidents, or calls for service, this year. The Communications Section is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The 11 people who are assigned to the Dispatchers/Records section are essential to the day-to-day operation of the Police Division.

All 11 personnel are cross-trained as Dispatchers and Records clerks. They handle the duties of call-taking and dispatching officers as well as creating each incident report in the in-house computer system. They also enter all arrest information that results from an incident (Call for Service). The Dispatchers serve as Deputy Clerks of Court accepting bonds and waivers when the court is not open at night or on the weekends. They receive, dispatch, or transfer all 911 emergency calls for Police, Fire, and Ambulance.

Assistant Systems Administrator

The Assistant Systems Administrator is responsible for all computer and technology related equipment and services. These services are provided to the citizens and visitors of Bowling Green as well as Division employees.
