Mission Statement
To provide the highest quality drinking water to the citizens of Bowling Green and surrounding communities. The City is committed to improving and expanding water treatment systems to assure this vital resource is available for future generations to come.
Overview
Providing safe, high quality drinking water is one of the most important responsibilities of the City of Bowling Green. Raw water is drawn from the Maumee River during periods of high water quality and stored in the 170 million gallon Bowling Green Reservoir. The Reservoir provides approximately 30 days of raw water supply and also provides a consistent high quality raw water for treatment. The Bowling Green Water Treatment Plant operates 24 hours a day/7 days a week/ 365 days a year to assure the quality of the drinking water meets or exceeds all Federal and State requirements. The water goes through a multi-step purification process that takes several hours to complete. New treatment technology, utilizing Granular Activated Carbon Filtration, Ultraviolet Disinfection, Microfiltration and Reverse Osmosis are part of this process.
