GIS Street Tree Inventory
All trees located in city-owned green spaces are inventoried and the City of Bowling Green has over 9,500 in the public right-of-way, public parks, and green spaces.
Recommended Maintenance Categories
Large Tree Routine Prune
These trees require routine horticultural pruning to correct structural problems or growth patterns that would eventually obstruct traffic or interfere with utility wires or buildings. Trees in this category are large enough to require bucket truck access or manual climbing.
Small Tree Routine Prune
These trees require routine horticultural pruning to correct structural problems or growth patterns that would eventually obstruct traffic or interfere with utility wires or buildings. These small-growing, mature trees can be evaluated and pruned from the ground.
Train
Young trees must be pruned to develop good structure to correct or eliminated weak branches, properly space branches, maintain a central leader when possible, and raise for pedestrian and vehicle clearance. Proper training helps maximize the tree's useful life and the benefits that it will provide while minimizing future maintenance requirements.
